Past Lives, Present Lives and Future Lives, Part One

past life workshops boulder

Years ago I met an extraordinary woman who my friend Polly said I had to get a reading from at a Psychic Fair in Boulder, Colorado on a Full Moon. Now for some people this is not an extraordinary event. For me is was beyond anything I had ever done. It was my first reading, first Psychic Fair and I had just taken my first Reiki 1 Class the weekend before April, 1985.

So I sat down in front of this kind looking woman who smiled and asked for something that belonged to me that she could hold. So I gave her my keys and introduced to a world I didn’t even know existed.

She immediately looked at me and said you have many past lives. I remember thinking this life has been hard enough I don’t want to even think about past lives or future lives. She smiled and said “You came here because you wanted too, not because you had to.”

I was stunned because I didn’t say what I was thinking. Then she talked about other things that no one knew and the icing on the cake was when she told me that Ethel Prowinski, my other grandmother was around me in the difficult times ahead. I knew I hadn’t ever told anybody Nana (my grandmother through marriage) name.

After a period of time this woman became one of my best friends. I investigated past lives. I went to workshops put on by Brian Weiss and Denise Linn. Eventually I got my friends to go with me on cruises with Brian Weiss and James Van Praggh. Such gifted teachers at all levels.

Eventually Dorothe and I did past life workshops in Boulder and then finally once a month up in the Rocky Mountains at my home. I learned through time how to regress people and do past life flame readings. My world expanded in so many ways through the years and past lives, present lives and future lives are a big part of it. We will be exploring all of these in this blog series. I hope you enjoy them

Reiki And Alternative Healing Methods, Part Five

reiki and alternative healing methods

Welcome to my blog on alternative healing methods that seem effective. Tapping also known as EFT is simple and yet very powerful, especially in terms of releasing stress and any number of painful circumstances in your body and life.

EFT tapping diagram

EFT tapping chart courtesy The Tapping Solution

The points in tapping are used in Reiki, Acupuncture, Acupressure, and many other alternative healing arts. These points are all on the meridians which are energy lines through which chi (life force) flows. When there is a disruption in that flow discomfort or disease is possible. Two of my favorite leaders in the tapping world are Brad Yates and Nick Ortner. They both have books, workshops, and videos.

Another alternative healing system is the Ayurvedic medicine. It is practiced in India and Nepal. Therapies include herbal medicine, special diets, meditation, yoga, massage, oils, and much more. Dosha balance is emphasized. The dosha that needs to be balanced are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Many doctors are both Western physicians and Ayurvedic medical doctors. Deepak Chopra is a good example.

Acupuncture and Acupressure are based on meridians and the points along the meridians. Acupuncture uses needles and requires years of training. Both of these arts are ancient healing arts connecting to points that stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Both of these healing arts are very effective when used consistently on many physical problems. There are many books and references on both of these subjects. There are many alternative healing arts to explore and I would love to read your comments about any of them.

This is the end of this series, but a new series will come out in July.

Blessings,
Patricia

Reiki And Alternative Healing Methods, Part Four

reiki and alternative healing methods

As we have said previously a Reiki practitioner’s life becomes a statement to the world. There are ideals or rules to help Reiki practitioners’ live a balanced life. These rules have been passed on through many traditions. The heritage of Reiki actually seems to be traced back to the Tibetan monks thousands of years ago and brought to the Western world by Hawayo Takata.

We are multidimensional, multi-sensory beings. We need to nurture ourselves with music, art, color, dance, nature, ritual, prayer, meditation, and unconditional love.

The ethical principles of Reiki or the Rules of Reiki are only suggestions to help you have a happier and more peaceful life existence.

They are :

Just for today do not worry.

Just for today do not anger.

Honor your parents, teacher and elders.

Earn your living honestly.

Show gratitude to everything.

Please remember that these are centuries old so, the language may not be the same as we have today. After a Reiki class Clarity in thinking is enhanced and intuition is opened up dramatically. Emotional traumas are released from their emotional bodies gently over a period of time. There are many different reactions to Reiki treatments and classes. There is no set pattern. Some people cry. Some people laugh and giggle uncontrollably. Some people have intense physical jerking etc that eventually go away.

Reiki defies categorization and classification. It does support us to live passionately. Laughing and crying are good for your immune system. It opens us up to a world that is vast and fascinating, a world where the ego is small and weak. Reiki shows us a path to the interdimensionality of the Universe. We are here to heal ourselves, each other, and the earth. We are all connected to each other with an unbreakable bond. Fighting among ourselves is foolish.

Even the wisest human being on this planet only sees a limited piece of the whole picture of life. Therefore, being able to judge anything accurately is an absurd concept that humans created to make themselves feel more secure on this little blue ball hurling through space.

In the next blog, we will be investigating other healing methods.

If you have any comments or questions please email me at [email protected] with Reiki in the subject title.

Blessings,
Patricia

The Hidden Power of Dreams, Part 4

We also have posted the latest installment of our blog The Hidden Power of Dreams, Part 4

In this blog we are going to explore briefly Lucid Dreaming. The first question most people ask is “What are Lucid Dreams?” Lucid dreams are when you know that you are dreaming while you are asleep. You are aware that the events flashing through your brain aren’t really happening. But the dream feels vivid and real. You usually are able to control how the action unfolds. It is much like you are directing a movie in your sleep.

Many people seem to be dreaming about different kinds of animals, birds and creatures of the sea so we going to give some short meanings of some of these creatures in a dream. Read more

Reiki And Alternative Healing Methods, Part Three

reiki and alternative healing methods

When a person takes a Reiki I class they are taking the first step on a very long path. A Reiki practitioner’s life becomes a quiet statement to the world. Reiki stands for healing. Reiki stands for Universal Energy. Reiki helps us become balanced spirituality, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Balance in the physical, spiritual, mental and the emotional bodies is an ongoing, lifelong process. Most people take a reiki class to work on themselves. So one of the first steps is to take care of your body. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Eat healthy food that contribute to the nourishment of your body. Keep your colon clean. Do some form of exercise daily. Breathe deeply. Get enough sleep or rest for your system. Meditate daily. Use discrimination and your inner wisdom around drugs and alcohol.

Our physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional bodies are interconnected. It is vital for your complete health to nurture and heal the multidimensional parts of yourself. Stress in our society has a profound impact on people, causing a disturbance at all levels of their being.

The earth and Nature have great healing power and wisdom. Take a walk along the ocean, a lake, a park or through the woods to connect yourself to the power of Nature.

We will continue this reiki and alternative healing methods blog through many parts because it is a very important and complicated subject.

Blessings,
Patricia

Reiki And Alternative Healing Methods, Part Two

reiki and alternative healing methods

We have been told by many teachers throughout time that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, rather we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Reiki changed my life dramatically. Everyone is capable of learning and doing Reiki. Reiki helps us all become clear channels of energy and light. It naturally helps us all heal physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. I believe our lives are much like huge tapestries the are woven in combination with our souls, our intentions and Spirit.

In Reiki, we are taught to allow the Universal Life Force to pour through every cell of our being, and then into the person we have put our hands on with intention.

We don’t focus on the person’s pain, illness or complaint. We sit quietly and let the energy flow through our hands into the person, with full confidence that they will receive whatever they need. Some people just feel relaxed. Some experience heat, tingling, fleeting emotional waves and healing at a variety of levels.

In Reiki, one of the important tasks of the Reiki practitioner is to learn to get out of the way when giving a treatment. In Reiki, learning to become a channel or a straw for Universal Life Force is the most important lesson to learn.

Our job is to put our hands on the person with their permission and allow the healing energy to flow through us to wherever it needs to go. There is a knowledge and wisdom in this energy that is beyond our everyday experience. This wisdom is in every cell pulsating through the Universe. Reiki helps that person, no matter what race, religion, creed or class, to heal themselves.

We as practitioners do not need to know how or what needs balancing or fixing.

Unlike massage or other hands-on techniques, giving a Reiki treatment is beneficial to both the giver and the receiver. The more energy the person getting a Reiki treatment needs, the more Reiki benefits the giver experiences.

For me, giving a Reiki treatment turns an hour or a day into a powerful, peaceful healing meditation.

I’ll continue exploring Reiki in the next blog.

Happy Holidays, Patricia

Reiki And Alternative Healing Methods, Part One

Reiki And Alternative Healing Methods

Life has so many twists and turns as we travel down the road of life. If you had asked me in my twenties about my life after 1985 and reiki I would have laughed, and said oh I don’t do weird stuff. Well, now I am one of the “weirdest people” I know.

As I look over the road my life has been amazing in so many ways. I feel so blessed. I don’t understand many of the parts, but I appreciate them and know that for me everything happens for a reason. I do believe in a Cosmic Plan and the Great Mystery. I am writing this series because Reiki has become an integral part of my life. Not teaching Reiki courses for over 3 years was really hard for me. I love watching people transform as they go through the reiki process. Some move through the changes dramatically and quickly. Others change more slowly because, and this is one of the things I like about Reiki, it adapts to what the individual not only needs but can accept at any given time.

I got involved in Reiki in 1985, and even though I was very skeptical about the whole energy/alternative healing paths. And yet taking that course totally changed my life. I felt like someone pulled me off one path and put me in another pair of shoes on a completely new path for my life.

I remember taking my Reiki II class, and I was really surprised that there were only 5 or 6c people from our original 20+ people in the weekend course of Reiki I. I could hardly wait for our Reiki Master Linda to come back to teach the class. She was from Boston and traveled to Boulder to teach classes several times a year. When I asked where were the other people she laughed and said “Only a fraction of the original class are called to take Reiki II.” To be honest I was really surprised.

Down the road I became a traditional Reiki Master for the specific purpose of finding a way to get reiki and alternative healing methods into our educational systems. Luckily I was very successful in doing that in the sense that many of the teachers I knew did take Reiki and many students took it after they graduated from the large high school I taught in. Later on, I still taught teachers, hospice workers, nuns, priests, nurses, social workers and so many other people who found their way to my door over the last 30 years.

We will be exploring Reiki books and many healing modalities that some might consider alternatives over the next few blogs. This is a huge subject that’s time has come.

Blessings,
Patricia
